A community meeting will be held later this month to close down the incorporated association that operates the Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival.
Secretary and Treasurer Margie Ryder said it will be a community decision what happens next.
"Someone might come along and say 'let's go back to basics'... [potentially] just a race meeting and a bull ride," she said.
"The triathlon was a beast in its own right. I don't think that will come back."
"There are a lot of people who have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this, so I think they need to be part of the discussion."
MEETING
WHEN: 24th July 2021 5.30pm
WHERE: The Julia Creek Precinct - Home to the Dirt n Dust

As with many small towns & even large ones, the lack of people willing to help their community dries up eventually - especially if some get lumbered with it "forever."
If the Brook family & a couple of others were to pull out of Birdsville, there could be a similar issue with the races, Big Red Bash, etc.
And in our bird club in Townsville there are some people who don't get on with others, hold grudges - why they can't let bygones be bygones, I have no idea! We only live for a short time.
