For those interested in a summary, right wing independent Craig Kelly has introduced a bill to Federal Parliament to abandon the idea of a vaccine passport. Not voted on yet.
Interestingly, there is another link where he inadvertantly posted a version online that had notes, pointing out some implausibilities.
While I may have supported a vaccine passport concept in the past, seeing in the US how the Democrats are disciminating against those unvaccinated, I no longer do.

The whole point of a vaccine passport is that you discriminate against those who don't have one. It's to prevent antivaxxers from exposing the rest of us to the risks that they have chosen to take for themselves. Yes, let's discriminate in favour of vaxxers when it comes to cruise ships, air travel, hospital workers, aged care workers, and everything else where people-to-people contact is involved.
Recent events show that there is no exemptions for those who are fully vaccinated. Our PM is fully vaccinated yet has to do the 14 day quarantine. So many many folks are saying "why bother"? What would a vaccine passport actually achieve?

I don't want antivaxxer nutcases putting me at risk. It's as simple as that.

Obviously I'm worried about coming into contact with people who aren't vaccinated. The only guarantee that a vaccine provides is that my body will be ready to fight the disease when some inconsiderate antivaxxer exposes me to it.

Dorian my point was that if you are vaccinated you are still subjected to all the restriction that those aren't vaccinated. So the average Australian can't see any benefit beyond protecting them from covid. ie you can't cross a state border by proving you are vaccinated.
The health minister is not saying that vaccines don't work. She is simply saying that vaccinated people can still be infected. That's not the same thing. But you would know that if you bothered to consult authoritative sources instead of listening to conspiracy nutters.
BTW, what search terms do you use to find all this drivel? Or does it just turn up in your email?

Any vaccine, whether it be for measles, polio, diphtheria whooping cough or whatever is never 100% effective. If its 90% then 10 people in 100 will still get whatever it is that it is designed to protect against.
Covid vaccines are no different. But vaccines do develop herd immunity if enough of the population are vaccinated. Polio and measles are now almost unheard-of in this country due to the effort to have the majority vaccinated against these diseases. I can remember the devastating effects of polio on my generation. My BIL was a victim and has suffered all his life with the lasting effects and a good mate was wheelchair bound from age 9 due to that disease. The vaccine has pretty much eradicated that amongst current generations.
Covid can be put to bed if we get enough of us vaccinated and stop reading the bs conspiracy websites.
Clive Palmer drivel turned today in our letter box. I might put it in the biggest envelope and send it back, without a stamp.

Plenty of "gurus" will find your post waffle. Facts and common sense don't have much credence with many on this forum..

His name only is in tiny print in one bottom corner, and it is far too shiny for that Pete.
