Not controversial?
Cute until the fashion wears off and they are released to become feral.
Those "cute kittens" have been responsible for the wholesale destruction of this country's wildlife.
Cheers,
Peter

Dont blame the cats for the destruction of the wild life blame the owners who dump them. After all after they are dumped they need to eat

Thats a bit rough mate...you know most humans don't like to take responsibility for anything that doesn't suit them!!

Without doubt the most destructive animals in Australia are humans.
Now back to the real topic of this thread. Here is a very cute kitten.
I guess no one on here has ever seen a pack of feral dogs in a flock of sheep.

OK let's also mention feral pigs, horses, camels, indian mynors, etc etc etc. I've drowned many wild kittens when we were on property. I don't regret it for a minute. I've also seen the parrot feathers on the ground without the parrot wearing them.

Sorry they're not called Indian Mynors any more. Like Coon cheese, someone seen they name as offensive and racist so now they're called
Common Mynors. Got that from a local bird watcher.
Cats only become the problem due to the owners. Though those of you the don't like cats wouldn't see it that way. And would stress the "don't like" part. But then if someone breeds a feral kid is the kid to blame or bad parenting..

As a responsible cat owner my cats have always been indoor only cats. The only animal that my cats have ever killed is an unfortunate mouse that entered our house.

Unfortunately they dont have to go feral to be a pest.
In our area, many owners do not keep them as an indoor pet, so they are often out at night, with the associated effect on wildlife, using everyone and anyones yard as their toilet.
I like cats, but only as an inside pet. Keep them indoors or provide a secure run in your own garden for their outdoor use.
When dogs are allowed to roam, or owners dont pick up after them, there is hell to pay.

Ask my wife about our front door mat. The local tom cat pisses on it during his nightly strolls. You can't, or shouldn't, go for a walk with your dog without a doggy bag. Then why a different rule for cats?
We've had cats. Our son had a cat that meant everything to him. When it died at the age of 18 his world ended for a time. He got over it. My mother fed about 22-23 cats every morning. They had kittens. I had 2 buckets of water waiting for them. Those cats stripped bare 40 acres of native birds.

Any cat (born hunter /killers ) that is not - contained /caged /locked indoors - is feral as far as I am concerned and should be treated as such - destroyed.
YouTube - cute kittens
This should be non controversial.
