Hi Anne & Andy our first big trip and we are interested in seeing how many days you would allow travelling with caravan at a relaxed pace from Alice Springs to Darwin via Kakadu.

Welcome Raggeties, You will find a lot of useful, frivolous, stupid, funny information on theses forums.
You have basically three sections Alice to Katherine, to see major sights and do a tour 4 days, Katherine to Kakadu 3 days, Kakadu thru to Darwin another three days to allow a Day each at Katherine hot springs and Daley Waters. Straight back to Alice 2 days.

We are just leaving Brisbane (after coming from Adelaide) to spend a week in Coburg Peninsula (near Kakadu) and back.
That will take us 5 1/2 months to get back to Brisbane and we have been over most of this country before.
You could easily spend that time from Alice to Kakadu and back. There is plenty to see.
My advise is allow as much time as you can and don't make a fixed plan.
Cheers,
Peter

Yes possum, your right, your plan is a good one.
I was thinking more in super slow mo because I'm a little bit in love with the top end and every time I go I find something new to see and do, and I loooove the Darwin relaxed vibe and people and Lichfield swimming (especially attractive when it's freezing in S.A.). Alice is a bit rougher at night than it used to be, so as a solo traveller last September I didn't go out at night this time, but I went further out of town to Ellery Creek and Standley Chasm. I also went canoeing in Katherine Gorge (20yrs ago, wow don't the years slip by) I thought it was stunning.
Either way it's awesome up there

Make sure you see Howard Springs Recreational Park just out of Humpty Doo - Feeding the Barramundi is a fantastic experience - Just wait until one and a half meter of fat barramundi leaps out of the water to take herring thrown in the air. AWSOME!

I can't add anything to the above comments as I haven't actually been that way but will say,
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.
I have never been to Kakadu
We are all different, and like to see different things
I once went from Darwin to Adelaide, in two weeks, as I always like to leave something to go back to see
