BC plus you know the number of the SLR which he is issued and sneak in to the armoury, so you can turn the gas plug up to 10 and give him some extra boot on his first shoot :)

I would have thought that providing firearms to children was a criminal offence, in which case you have already failed in your duty of care.

I really don't know what is wrong with some members of this Forum - The title of the section is "Just Joking". To my mind that means Jokes are posted here pure and simple - Puns, Witticisms, Humorous Facts/Anecdotes/Lies all generally come into the category.
It seems of late that we are becoming a bunch of "my dick is bigger than your's" whingers - It's like 5 year olds running up a sand hill screaming "I'm the King of the castle and you're the dirty rascal".
Maybe the COVID 19 Pandemic has affected everyone to the point of having no tolerance whatsoever.

The best time to learn the correct use of guns is in early teenage years before they learn bad habits.
When I was young most country 12 year olds had been taught the safe methods of gun ownership.

Shooting is a growing sport, especially in recent years, and is a great sport with its myriad variations for families and young people; it teaches discipline, self improvement and care for others. The hunting sports encourage people to spend time in the bush and learn its ways - they are healthy and wholesome and a far more humane way to obtain one's meat than shopping at Safeway.

times are changing i grew up with firearms ,i bought my kids single shot 22's from KMART no license required . it was a right of passage not any more

If you are a good parent and handle your firearms responsibly, whose bad habits is he going to pick up? If OTOH you are a bad parent with bad habits in respect of the handling and storage of firearms, why should you be teaching your child anything, whether at 12 years of age or 18? In any case, even if you teach your child good habits, he will eventually do what you do, not what you say.
When I looked into getting a firearms licence some 15 years ago, it was a requirement in NSW that every applicant undergo a course of instruction with a recognised instructor. Is that not still the case?

Until this thread, if someone had told me that there was a country where a 12 year old could legally own a firearm, I would have thought that they were referring to some backward, unenlightened rathole. It appears that the situation in this country is even worse than I thought.

Sadly, the gun lobby wields a political influence that is far in excess of its relatively small numbers. It does so by engineering strategic alliances in the senate and in crucial marginal electorates. The NRA has trained them well.

I laughed when I saw those idiots falling over whilst firing guns. Obviously they were never instructed how to respect and fire a gun. I imagine, from the weapons and backgrounds, that they were from the USA.
I was taught how to respect and fire a gun from a very young age. Probably 10 or 11. I listened to my father's instructions including, but not limited to:
A gun is a murder weapon. Don't be a murderer. Use the gun properly.
Never point a gun at anything that you don't want to kill.
A gun is always loaded even if you just unloaded it.
Never fire a gun if you don't know where the bullet will end up if you miss the target.
Don't kill anything for the sake of killing.
Etcetera...
I think that I learned at that young age because I thought my father knew everything about guns, he often went shooting and he was in WWII. He'd also clip my ear if I did anything wrong so I had to listen and get it right.
I developed a healthy respect for weapons and I get upset when I see idiots doing dangerous things with them. I feel privileged that I know how to fire guns, ride horses, muster, fish, although I don't like the latter much, etcetera. Others my age were never given the opportunity.
Anyway, the point is that the video was funny but I hope I never meet people like those and respect of guns is very importan, which can be gained at a very young age.

the reason we can watch videos like that is because people with no gun sense/training can have access to any weapon they or their friends can afford. are you not glad we have some form of restriction here, so that the only people who can legally posses fire arms have had some form of education in handling them to get a license , remember how most of the signs along the hyways use to be full of holes don't see any now
