I hear from news services that the Qld Government has finally released a QR code reader that may be used for recording entry into venues.
I went to the App Store to check the offering and find that most of the comments report that it does not work. Many are reporting that the App in NSW works very well in that state.
Has anyone installed the Qld app and care to give us a report on it?

Only released yesterday, (Sunday) and only taken up by about 30 businesses so far.

Only yesterday, no wonder it is not going so well.
With the current check in procedures it seems that every venue has a different scan method and it is worrying that you must enter personal details on so many levels.
I hope it works as well.

I'd be more inclined to trust the Qld government app. It should only allow access to your data to the health department. Whereas, the other apps are run by private companies and they'll make money by sending you ads or on selling your data.

NSW venues have been using Q codes for months I just point the camera on my iphone at it and it registers that I have been at that place at that time which apparently they will use for contact tracing purposes. Contrary to what some of our conspiracy theorists believe after 3 months of using it I have not received any advertising in fact I get more unsolicited adds from logging on to facebook than I do from using Q codes. If you dont have a phone with the capability of reading codes or are paranoid about using them you always have the option of filling out a register manually (which I do when I play golf) I know what I'd rather spend my time on. I walk each morning around the lake foreshore in the Warners Bay/Speers Point area of Lake Macquarie and along the way they have points of interest complete with a Q code. The code takes you to a historical walk website where it gives you all the information about that particular spot, it works great. Who knows maybe the Chinese embassy in Adelaide is monitoring where I go each day but I guess if they are their espionage people are probably getting bored to death .

Don't get this system confused with the app that the federal government was asking everyone to download at the beginning at the pandemic I believe that they had very little success with that one.. The first time I used it I had to enter my name and a contact number now I just point my camera at the code as I enter and it sends a confirmation that I have succesfully registered as being at that business at that time. If you are with someone only 1 person has to do it and they become the point of contact.

Maybe I could have explained the Qld situation a little better.
Currently the venues have, by law, Q codes for entry.
These Q codes are provided by the venue owner via a third party.
Every venue has a different third part Q code so therefore a patron
will be entering personal details on several different sites.
I too, would rather trust the Qld Q code entry but with only 30 venues
it will be a while before its use is common.
Maybe the Qld Gov should have rolled this out before they
Introduced Q code tracking for venues.

What happens if you don't have a smart phone? The world is now obsessive about smart phones. Then along come the hackers and blackmailers. Or the power goes off. Then what? We all crawl back into our caves and plan the next hunting season? Sounds silly doesn't it? But just think for a moment how dependent everyone has become of the internet and the phones.
Terrorists nolonger need a ton of explosives. They just need some pimply faced nerd to hack into the system.

We often don't take our phones with us going shopping etc. We walk to the shops & don't want to carry another item.
In NSW the businesses have to provide manual contact data collection.
We noticed when we had the lockdown on Sydney Northern Beaches last Christmas a lot of people were manually signing in. Often a bit of a queue. Mostly the older population.

Yep, I shudder to think of how we will be effected when we loose the internet & the system of satelites providing so much to our almost world wide society.
I am certain that it will happen either by accidental failure or a deliberate act of aggression.
But then I was extremely worried about the potential of the Hydrogen bomb to destroy society when i was about 25 years of age.
