Walking is healthy for you but not so for the Nation.
Well, that is what the following article is implying.
Jay&Dee
A cyclist is a disaster for a country's economy. He does not buy a car and does not take a car loan. Does not buy car insurance. Does not buy fuel. Does not send his car for servicing and repairs. Does not use paid parking. Does not become obese.
Yes,.....and well, damn it!! Healthy people are not needed for an economy. They do not buy drugs. They do not go to hospitals and doctors. They add nothing to a country's GDP. On the contrary, every new McDonald's outlet creates at least 30 jobs: 10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 weight-loss experts apart from people working in McD outlets.
Choose wisely: A cycle or a McD Worth thinking."
Walkers are even worse. Those people do not even buy a bicycle!

My brother in-law has a company car, so that minimises tax. He is an avid bike rider buying plenty of expensive bikes. He has had plenty of accidents spending a lot of time in hospital.
My father had tripped on footpaths many times & ended up in hospital, once with a fractured eye socket.
Other half has been in hospital 4 times tripping on footpaths, once getting infected & was on strong antibiotics.
I have tripped on footpaths, haven't been to hospital, but should have. Growing up had my fair share of bike accidents.
So I would suggest we are doing our fair share for the economy!
Forgot: My mum broke her wrist & another footpath trip hazard her broke her arm.

A neighbour rolled her mobility scooter, she was a speed demon at 90+ with her tiny dog running for its life at the end of its leash. In hospital a few times as a result & replaced her scooter as it was written off.

But wait JayDee. What about the big dollars they spend on their Lycra outfits? Lots of dollars on brunch after the big ride. Parking their $1000.00 bikes on the footpath at the coffee shops so people walk on the road to get past. Gotta love those MAMILs!
