G'day all, signed up a few weeks back but just been soaking up some of the info here so far. Was recently made redundant and decided to have a go at retirement. Retired our X Trail and bought a new MUX ready to take home an Ezytrail camper sometime in January, ordered after the last Camping and Caravan show in Adelaide. Our intent is to do a couple of local trips to ensure we have what we need and what we do not need then head West to cover the lower half of WA as Pam has never seen that state. Looking forward to being able to travel without deadlines to meet and maybe meeting up with some of you on the road.
Any other ex military types on here? I was Air Force from 72 - 98 but also spent a lot of time with Army and Navy.
Regards, Barney and Pam.

Welcome to the gang Barney and Pam, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I hope your camper arrives quicker than quick so you can enjoy the 'wild west' and all the other great places in OZ. Just be careful in the 'wild west' though cos there is a crazy wombat there, real crazy and I tell you that for free.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Welcome to GN's Barney & Pam, The camp trailer is a good way to dip the toes in to see if you like the lifestyle at a relatively low cost - The main problem other than wet canvas will be keeping the Missus out of other GN's caravans "lacking all the set-up hassles and deciding "that's what I want", when a 20ft "Palace on wheels" camps nearby.

Thanks for the welcome guys, we did look at some vans and I was surprised when she showed interest in the campers.

Things took a major change today, after waiting more than 6 months from paying the deposit on the camper they could still not tell me when I would have it. Told them where to stick it, went and looked at a Coromal Seka 505 pop top for private sale. Van was in excellent condition, very well looked after and maintained. Just need to add battery and more 12 v lighting for free camping.
Wife seems happier with this set up, especially when she noticed the airconditioner.
Now sitting in our driveway, ready to go as is for caravan parks, may take it to Woomera / Roxby for a few days, then do the 12 v work before heading to Perth.

If you go to Woomera make sure you are there for a Friday night, then you can get to see the stars at the observatory for free.
I was there in Sept last year.
Cheers
Enjoy your travels

Thanks mate, luckily this time of year it gets dark enough to see them before the bar closes....
