Probably when the moron is gone. No one makes ya read posts with Trump in the heading...unless you want to of course.
Pity he has gone,as now our friends in China will have free rein to bring the free world to its knees An example is the fishing port to be built in PNG,which will give them free rein to take any fish they want from Australian waters. No Cheers.

I really wonder about how some folks think. When you call someone a 'moron' I can understand why the thread then gets closed. The subject could be a long an interesting one without the personal attacks. Name calling is usually a sign that that you have lost the argument simply because you don't have a base on which to support the opinion.
The world has shifted a few notches to the left. Can't we discuss the consequences of that without the name calling?

bgt,
I think the shift to Biden in America was a reversal of the prior move to the right with the election of Trump. Whether that is reflected by further swings back to Socialist government elsewhere is yet to be seen. The original swing to Trump did see similar moves in Great Britain and Australia, albeit with more reasonable leaders, so we will need to watch over the coming couple of years whether there is a general move back towards the centre or left of politics.
As for the name calling of Trump, he is/was a perfect example of your position, that name calling starts when you have nothing to base your argument on. It was his go to position to enthuse his support base at conventions, and to denigrate opposition when he had no legitimate answer.
My thoughts on him are he had a reasonable concept, ie make your country great, but that was merely a catchy concept to make people vote for him. He never really had a plan to achieve that other than to benefit himself and his big supporters.
In the end he is a clever politician (which he would deny, as he doesnt consider himself a politician), but I find him to be a very poor example of a man.
Just my thoughts, and others are entitled to theirs.

Come on people, leave the politics out of this, otherwise another interesting thread will be closed.
Bob posted a link to a clever and humerous video clip, a satirical comment on a topic of current interest, when and how will Trump leave the white house.
The politics of the his defeat are done and dusted, the question everyone is contemplating is, how will he vacate, will he go quietly and hand over office graciously, will he have to be removed forcibly kicking and screaming, or, will he surreptitiously slink off into the night.
don't really know which publications/ media the Clever People tell me to read or watch etc etc when they insist l /we change our viewing habits.
Seems to me nearly all the mainstream sources ALL have the same point of view or reporting, including the ABC, which l watch a lot for news etc etc
Anywho, we have a number of qualified medical experts ( from Surgeons/ nurses/ ambos etc etc ) in our circle of family and close friends.
I'll take health advice from those folk ANY time every day first before some random stranger with a agenda on social media
.

Perhaps they were trying to bring to the attention of those who can't really think, that each of these sources of "news" supports a concerning move to the loony left? We rapidly are reaching a position where the "givers" (taxpayers) will be unable to maintain the "takers" in the lifestyle that they have quickly become accustomed to,and that they now feel they are "entitled" to,but unfortunately, there are now so many of them, that they have immense voting power. But I did enjoy viewing Bob's original post, sad as that situation may be.Cheers.

Folks I don't really care if you are of the left or the right. I don't care if you don't like someone. I do care that we can all have differing opinions. I do care that a debate is cheapened by name calling.
Have your opinion. Debate facts. But leave the name calling to the kids in the sand pit.

I tend to agree, though the term was not used in reference to anyone posting in this thread, so no personal insult was directed toward a Grey Nomad forum member.
I'm sure Trump is not a moron, however no one can deny he is an egocentric, manipulative buffoon.
Everything he does is obviously meant to further his own cause.
Have a look at this report from Chris Cuomo CNN.

It may well be called I Digress, I guess if you choose to chuck in a post about the last winner of the Melbourne Cup you can, however in the interest of continuity, I'm sure most people can see the logic of adhering to a thread topic, common sense! doesn't call for a lot of thought.

You are upset that l called trump a moron.
That's hilarious.
Considering that trump has been calling anyone that disagrees with him or is on the other team or tell him he lost far, far worse than that.
He has been doing it for years.
Funny you can't see that.

I've said this before on these forums. I dislike Trump as a person. Politics I'm not sure. He has done some great stuff and stuff I shake my head at. He is certainly unique. On the other hand I like Biden as person. He speaks well, despite what some may say. He is a petrol head and that's worth something. But I couldn't vote for either of them if I was able to. Trump isn't diplomatic and is to full of himself. Biden is a nice guy but to nice and I think will cave into those with the loudest voice.
There. I've had my say and I hope I was able to without dragging the thread into the gutter. It is possible to express an opinion without being offensive and making absurd accusations.

I thought the posts did in general stick to Trump as the thread topic, even if a bit away from his leaving the Whitehouse. But that is the type of person he is, creating a wide variety of reactions and comment, and eliciting strong emotions. I see this thread digressing no more or less than most threads here. Certainly at this stage it is more civil than many.
The comment about logic and commonsense, however, was unnecessary.
