All depends on the camera lens. This is the famous camel spider. Nowhere near as big as it looks here
that one of craigs has nothing to do with camera angle, they are bigger hhan they look

And they seem twice as big when they somehow get inside a cray pot, lots of fun and big heavy gloves to get out. They didnt need brag angles back then.

Guru commented about camera angles - true they can distort somewhat your idea of size, but it is hard to distort the size of the bloke's hands holding the crab claws. That was one BIG crab.

The fishermen could not sell at first, then the Japanese discovered we had them, did the price take off. The one in picture was about 45 cm across body. The main arms are about as big as your wrist.

When we were kids our Dad used to take us camping down at Huskisson on Jervis Bay NSW.
There was always talk of a giant crab which was mounted on the wall above the bar in the Huskisson Pub.
After a lot of pleading my Dad organised with the publican for me to go into the bar with him to see the crab. (Kids werent allowed in public bars in those days).
I havent been to Huskisson for 30 years and often wonder if it is still there.
