I was waiting for a bus, when I saw a city worker digging a hole. Then I saw another worker immediately filling the hole in with the same soil.
I watched in amazement as they moved up the street doing this over and over again. The first worker dug a hole, and the second one filled it in with the same soil again.
Baffled, after a few minutes, I decided to walk over and ask,
"Excuse me, what are you doing?".
"We're working", the first worker replied.
"Just the two of you?",
I inquired.
"Well" the second worker chimed in,
"there's usually three of us, but the worker that plants the trees called in sick.

A Council work crew headed out to a job 50 km out of town. When they got there, they realised that they had left their shovels behind in the depot. They got on the radio "Hey Boss, we're at the job site but we forgot the shovels". The boss replied "OK - I'll send another ute out with the shovels for you"
The workers asked "What will we do in the meantime?" The boss replied "I guess you'll just have to lean on each other".
