I enjoy Sunday mornings listening to callers from all over Aus on the "Sunday's with Macca" show on the ABC.
Sometimes there is no TV camping in the bush, but mostly you can get a radio signal.
They get some real dinky di Aussies from all corners of this big land.
Cheers Bob

I tend to wake up early and listen from go to whoa. Some of the characters that call in have an interesting tale to tell. I have also some of his books purchased from ABC Shop some years ago, they are worth a read.

I've been listening for as long as I can remember.
It's those who ring in that I enjoy most.
From time to time I get a bit annoyed with his frequent whingeing.

I listen sometimes if I am on the move early.
Some of the callers are really interesting but some are just furious self promoters.
I don't particularly enjoy Macca's world weariness, moralising and whinging. Like most ABC shows it would improve dramatically if it was more about the subjects and the people and less about the host and his views.

I have an old booklet put out by the ABC that lists their station frequencies by town nation wide. It has a permanent place beside the Van's radio.
I usually listen to RN when in the van & the local ABC (612 in Bris) when at home.

Friends were put off because he tended to cut some callers off mid stream - we saw why during his last visit to Townsville. His assistant (Kell) follows him around with a timer! I'm certain that Ian would like to continue the chats but he has to "toe the line".
I've been listening from "day dot". We enjoy the show, the people, those that we've left behind on our travels. Miss the Macca song that mentions Nunjikompita (wonder how many people know where that is).
We even saw an old green plastic phone at Kalpower sitting on a bench with a sign "Call Macca" on it. Kalpower is on Cape York.

Ten miles from Chinbinga.
East of Smoky Bay and north of Wurrilla on the Eyre Peninsula.
A large part of the grain growing area in those parts.
I gave up on Macca years ago, I found the show to get boring with the same old stuff being presented, but back at the time we did enjoy him.
Regards
Rob

Maybe if he was hooked up to a generator that might liven his show up a bit.

I would loath anyone who decided to Bluetooth the cast through their caravan radio and listen on the outside speakers while sitting under the annexe.
Particularly because there is no need for the genny as there is plenty of battery left.
Ahh! Now this is camping..
