Hi All, 

First time planning a longer trip due to the covid caused us to cancel other holiday plans as well as cancelling daughter wedding so we have time off work confirmed , around christmas period and we know it will be a bit warm.

We have decided to do a trip to Ayrs Rock and leaving from Ippy and heading out westward first of all , and looking for some guidance on best routes, will be also looking at a trip to Alice and The Isa and back down the coast roards. 

Any recomendations would be good, fully self sufficent and can be set up for free camping

My recommendation is find somewhere else to go.
"a bit warm"? That might be a slight understatement. I have worked out there at that time of year and it is not a place to be if you have a choice.

50C (shade temperature) EVERY day for a week happens regularly (but there is no shade). That puts enormous stress on every part of your vehicle, particularly the engine, the batteries and the tyres. Failure is 10 times more likely and that will lead to significant personal risk.

There are usually a few Europeans out and about (because they either have no time choice or because they don't know better). Covit will ensure that they are mostly missing too, so the number of vehicles out there is likely to be well down on the few that are normal. That adds to the risk.

The Centre is a fabulous region. Leave it to a time when you can enjoy it and stay safe.
