I have friends on this forum, who are in Victoria, and they know who they are They are decent people, just like me. They assisted, and have been friendly towards me, when I go to their State.
While I am fortunate to be at home base in Western Australia, and you are restricted in another lockdown/ring fence situation.

Long overdue. Should have been in place 3 or 4 weeks ago.
Just returned from getting a prescription filled at the chemist & there were 4 20 something wankers with no masks. They need to haul these morons off to the clink. Just blatantly ignoring the instructions because they dont give a sh%t.
Too many idiots who need to have the big stick wielded around their daft heads.

Yes I agree that this should have been brought in a lot earlier.
They were and some still are, in denial in Victoria.
Lets hope it can be controlled although Premier Dans timeline for control is not much more than a fairy tale in my opinion. In his speech on TV he still appears to be leaving too many loopholes. I thought a shutdown was a shutdown.

Around the time of the Cedar Meats outbreak was the time to ramp things up & keep the lid on it. Now it is shutting the gate after the horse has bolted because of the softly softly approach. Up the consequences for anyone not following the directions. As long as these idiots are out & about, more people die.

I see when driving around the odd Vic numberplate sticks it's head up and the writing along the bottom of the plate says something along the lines of:
Victoria - The place to be.
I bet there's a few who wish they didn't have that numberplate at the moment.
And just watching on tv etc agree what all are saying, those selfish morons are not making it good for all those that are doing the right thing
I feel so much for Victorians who have to bunker down to see out this peak & get it under control. We are only a step away from this situation ourselves here in Brisbane.
It won't be easy, but most importantly it requires all to pull together if we are to get through with minimum damage.
What stands out to me is that when the issue was first addressed Nationally it was most successful when done in an apolitical way. It only got a bit wobbly when certain Feds & some State Premiers started criticising other State Premiers for not opening borders. Perhaps with an eye on coming State elections.
This is counter productive and we all aught to stop. We should all make allowances for differences and pull together.
I get rather disappointed when I see this continual sniping at the Vic Premier.

I hear ya Cupie. we live in Logan. Where those two girls worked.
They went to my Drs Surgery (twice). my local shopping centre. Students from that school frequent the Gym that I go to daily.
To say I am furious is putting it mildly.
It is sooooooo frustrating to be put in this position again. I dont want to have to live like family and friends are in Victoria fo the foreseeable future

No problem with states wanting to keep their borders closed but I think its a bit hypocritical for Qlders to criticise the Vic and NSW governments for their 'poor' decisions. I watched the Knights and the Storm play on Sunday and the crowd that was permitted to populate the hill at that stadium went completely against all social distancing guidelines for sporting fixtures. This in a state where there has been an uproar about 3 covid positive women returning from Victoria and circulating the virus in the community for 8 days. Even the teams were not happy with the crowd management, the Storm have requested that those in charge of the ground reduce the numbers for their upcoming matches as it is putting both them and the future of the game at risk.

I agree that it is correct for both the NRL & the Local Council to require the ground managers to address the apparent overcrowding & non observance of Social distancing. However I think that this may be an issue at many grounds
eg.
"Bailey also suggested social distancing was also a concern during Sunday afternoons match between the Canterbury Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels at ANZ Stadium in Sydney Olympic Park."
IMHO it is only a matter of time before crowds at sporting venues is seriously addressed and perhaps banned completely. A bit like the mobs at Clubs & Pubs I think.
As a Queenslander I certainly would not criticise the Vic Premier for his actions but admit to having difficulty with the NSW Premier's persistent criticism of her Qld counterpart for keeping the border closed (perhaps not so much now though) & refusing to negotiate on arrangements to act on minimising congestion at the Coolangatta crossing.
It was right that the community be outraged at the action of those two or three people apparently flouting the border crossing rules. Many in the State have suffered a fair deal to keep the rate of infection low & are somewhat let down by the actions of a few. The crowd behaviour at sporting events is another matter & for my part I would like to see them prohibited. (Mind you I haven't been to a game in person for a couple of decades).

Cupie I can't comment of the Bulldogs game as I didnt watch it but as ANZ is a fully seated stadium it shoudn't be that hard for them to keep people at the right distance. I have seen other grounds with unseated hill areas like Lottoland at Manly also having little regard for the social distancing rules. Maybe its time to only allow people into the seated areas at grounds and ensure that seats are allocated at set distances or we could be forced to go back to the cardbord cutouts. I assume that the comments relating to sniping the Vic Premier are the ones above from a week ago.
On an almost daily basis an exemption condition is announced and I am one of the first to acknowledge that there will be personal situations which may need attention however, these exemptions create loopholes which can be easily exploited by those in denial or those that just have to be anti the establishment. Unfortunately Vic seems to have attracted a larger proportion of these people.
These constant backflips gives an impression of the situation not being as important as it may be due to the fact that the majority see that there are rules in place but we dont really have to abide by them if we can get around it. Without bringing politics into it, reports are abound that the Vic Premiers future will be very short lived due to his handling of the pandemic. I think anyone can see that some of the disasterous situations that the Victorian residents have been exposed to has not been his direct fault but the buck always stops at the person at the top. If we compare his handling of the pandemic to how other leaders in this country have looked after their own patch then he really does not looked that good. 268 people yesterday fined for breaching lockdown rules and I missed the number for the fines for people not wearing masks but I believe the number was over 100 and to make it worse PPE is in limited supply for frontline medical staff. These situations are disgusting. His lack of any effort in controlling the situation when it first started is now being highlited by the current results.
I dont see it as constant sniping, I see it as saying it as it is.

Before we get too hung up on blaming the state govt, or the federal govt, or China for our covid situation lets review some facts :
1. We had to bring in mandatory quarantining in hotels, because we couldnt trust people to stay home after returning from overseas.
2. We then had to bring in security, because we couldnt trust people to stay in those hotels.
3. We then had to bring in ADF, because we couldnt trust the security guards not to have sex with those in quarantine in the hotels.
4. We had to get police to door knock and check up on people, because we couldnt trust those who were meant to be self-isolating to actually stay at home.
5. We also have to have police and ADF reinforce the metropolitan melb zone and state borders, because we cant trust people to follow the restrictions.
6. We are now being asked to use masks, because we cannot trust people to social distance when they are in public.
7. Through it all, our supermarkets have had to introduce shopping restrictions because we couldnt trust people to not to take more than what they needed.
So we can get as mad as we want at politicians or health officials for imposing restrictions, or the country where the virus originated, but essentially its our own fault that we find ourselves here.
Selfishness and lack of empathy seems to be as much of a disease as covid itself.
The quicker people start following directions, the quicker this situation will improve.

What I have observed is that for every rule of lockdown and control that is put in place there all of a sudden a group who need to buck the decision and come up with some excuse not to comply.
Other Premiers openly state..No Exceptions.... but this does not appear to happen in Vic.
Calling it sniping is as little help as him doing nothing. He is the one who puts a rule in place and then permits exemptions.
One only needs to ask why Vic is in this situation when compared to the other states.

In a Health Pandemic, the irresponsible ones stand out like a sore thumb, as they had become spreaders of the virus
It is just unfortunate for Victoria, that their State was the first to have some irresponsible people, spread the virus
It could have been any State or Territory, where the Coronavirus, first jumped from quarantine, to the general population
The only good thing that has come out of this, is that it has made other States, tighten their quarantine procedure
I remember reading early on, at the first lockdown, a WA man in WA quarantine hotel, had wedged the fire door slightly open
This man then went about his business, using public transport, around the City of Perth, and outlying areas for a number of days
Lucky for everyone, the man did not have the virus, otherwise WA would now be in the same, or worse situation as Victoria
For those who may not know, the free bus service around the city of Perth, was always very popular, and buses were nearly always full
Plus the trains were very cheap, and very affordable, to those who did not have a free senior pass
I frequently used the train from Mandurah to Perth, it was about a 50 minute journey, and was mainly full, in the hours I used them
Because WA only has the one major city, many people have to go there, from the rural areas, for specialist treatment, it was always crowded in the CBC, each time I went

My personal opinion of these morons who break quarantine is if they are shown to test positive and have passed it on to others, they should be looking at 10 years inside, and if anyone infected by their selfishness dies they should be facing a life sentence.
It might just penetrate that single brain cell they have that it's a serious issue and they need to grow up and take some responsibility.

they have a right to protest, but in times like this putting others at risk both from a health and financial perspective is unacceptable
should a breakout occur all the gain from closing the boarder will be lost
