Thomas Edisons mother lied about the contents of a letter from her sons school informing her that the school had expelled him for mental deficiencies.
What's True
Thomas Edison was described by educators as addled and spent only a few months in a formal classroom before being taken out of school and educated by his mother.
What's False
Edison's mother received no such letter, and no evidence supports the claim that she lied to her son about his performance in the classroom to protect his feelings.

Well, I can tell you what happened in my case. When I left a catholic school, because they liked to cane me every 2nd day, as they were extreme bullies, and I was only 7 at the time. The letter to the new public school said, that I don't want to apply myself and I was deficient in the ability learn. That went against me, and I was placed in lower classes. But within 2 months at the new school, I was put in higher classes and remained in higher classes for rest of my life. Even going to UNI, to do and pass a degree in an Applied Science. My problem being all my life was though, is if it doesn't interest me, I wont enjoy or do the work. Only, this year at 60 years of age have I been diagnosed with Asbergers Syndrome, it might account for those previous years of teaching problems. But I did prove, that I had an higher IQ then what those catholic nuns thought I had.
