My initial though was perhaps a weight for old scales, but then you would expect to have a weight embossed on it.
Noting that the company The Austral Bronze Co. was set up to manufacture ammunition, it could be an ingot prior to processing, perhaps a lead and antimony or tin mix for melting to turn into projectiles for rifle bullets.
But basically only guessing.

Ric, I can shave 1 poofteenth of a gram off for the $1. But as the label says " GRAPHINE ", but not according to google
