Latest info is that the ACCC has given Coast to Coast a hurry up on producing a Remedial Action. Info passed on by the SA Office of the Technical Regulator, who instigated the recall, has suggested (once again no definite time) that a result COULD be expected in the next month.

They are an inefficient lot, hot water systems don`t require rocket science knowledge to fix.
They have been saying that a result would be known in the next month for several months now. One of the faults with these systems is carbon monoxide [ CO2] getting into the van. The grommet through which the gas pipe is connected have been butchered in the fitting of the systems. Seal up the grommet and no CO2 enters the van. I have proved that, prior to the grommet being sealed CO2 was entering the cabinet, with a CO2 detector reading of 40 ppm. after sealing the CO2 detector showed a NIL result. This was after 10 or more tests.
The fitting instructions from Suburban states that the grommet MUST be sealed.
I have told the AGA and Coast to Coast what I found.
I have seen older systems [ not in the recall] with the grommet not sealed up. So why are they not recalled?

Phillipn, I can only suggest that you write to ACCC - If it's not in writing it didn't happen. I also believe that all units should be recalled before someone is killed.

Latest list of serial numbers of units to be replaced see link below I doubt that this is all of the faulty units. I think it is interesting that they are willing to replace heaters with any brand of customer's choice. (at their cost).

THE long-awaited recall of suspected deadly gas water heaters fitted to many caravans and other RVs has now been given the official go-ahead, it was revealed today. "While this is certainly welcome news there are still a few outstanding matters that we are working through before we can begin to have water heaters inspected," distributors Suburban and Coast to Coast said in a message to consumers.

Possum, I cant get your link to load.
I received an E-mail from Coast To Coast regarding the recall. They are waiting for equipment from USA to do the testing.
The units that are OK will have a CO detector fitted, the faulty systems will be replaced with new units.
