I just bought myself a 2012 Nissan X-trail, diesel, manual, 4x4.
I bought it in Newcastle N.S.W. and took a week to drive it home to Murray Bridge S.A. sleeping in the back, staying at free camps and caravan parks. I might add a camper trailer one day but at least for now I can do some traveling.
I realised because I got my licence after I had children that at 65 this trip was my 1st solo road trip EVER even though I've had my licence for over 40years.
I was a bit scared at first especially when I got lost driving in Sydney, but the further I got from the city the more I settled into it.
You can get quite a lot in the x- trail so I swung past BCF and got some basic camping stuff including an airbed and was surprised how comfortable I was.
On the drive I learned a lot about myself and the car and with the addition of a few camping supplies from home and the purchase of a fire extinguisher I'm ready for some new adventure

Welcome to the gang Lucy, enjoy here and out in the playground.
You have done the most important thing, started your travels. I have been in the playground for 9 years now as a Solo, 6 full time. It's a great life and I tell you that for free.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.
