I regularly contributed to the local council precinct committee. It took out committee 5 years to get a desperately needed additional female toilet in an existing toilet block.

I have often thought of sending a letter to the Chinese Premier, to supply Chinese workers to build some pipeline to redirect water from coastal rivers to the inland. I'd say with enough workers and the willingness to do a good days work, it would be finished in 3 months.

12 weeks delay to import every single product. 1 week to actually build it.

To my way of thinking, this is what leadership is all about
See a problem, in this case not enough hospital beds, if this virus gets out of hand
Decide on a solution, in this case build more hospitals
Just do it
Just to add to the above, without getting political
I do not remember seeing adverts, saying that the great leader, with the great mind, is going to do great things, in the future

Sydney Northern Beaches. People can't get to a new hospital other than go the long way round due to road flooding which has happened for 100 years on a regular basis.
A new hospital, close 2 accessible hospitals & not upgrade Wakehurst Parkway main road. NSW planning at it best!

Might have something to do with an autocratic government too.
I wonder how many people were living and running their businesses and taking care of their families on that land a month ago and what happened to them? Who cares????
Cheers,
Peter

We used to dream of living in a caravan.....
Luxury... Our family paid expensive accommodation to live in an cabin on a cruise ship with no porthole. Once every third day with gloves and mask we marched outside for 2 minutes of fresh air, one person at a time, and all we had to eat was beans! After a week we would kill each other every night, clean every surface with the only alcohol we had, and dance between the bunks singing hallelujah!
