Try using a little Pine o clean for aromas. Sodium Permanganate is used to emulsify the content in the cassette not to clean. I refuse to use any "Proprietary" toilet additives that have any formaldehyde in ingredients We use Vanish (Nappysan) and utilise 10% eucalyptus Water in spray bottle to lubricate and cleanse bowl. Emptying cassette regularly keeps it fresher.
Of course, portable cassettes are much more convenient and easier to empty than Motor Home Black water tanks.

Gooday,
One solution, one off cost, fit a SOG system, (Smell All Gone), that's my analysis of the 3 letters, I know they cost a couple of hundred $, a lot for what they are, but they sure work and no odour, chemicals, we fitted one over 10 years ago Magic, sold by Aussie Traveller.
Cheers,
Thomas J.

We fitted a SOG unit to our caravan toilet. Works great, no toilet smell entering the van when the toilet is open. With no chemicals the toilet can be empted into a septic system.
