I bought a powertech digital meter with anderson plugs OR buy with aligator clips and you connect onto leads coming from solar panel/s this then allows you to see how much power is being generated from panel/s . Like wise can use on leads that supply charge to battery from solar regulator.
Jaycar sell them tell them what you need to do and or yr problem they are help full. good luck

Thanks for the information.
Multimeter readings are
20.5 on controller
13.5 volts on battery
12.2 on charger panel.
I will continue investigating as per the post info you provided.
