Just wondering if anyone has a similar problem sleeping as we get older, just recently been waking up anywhere between 2.00 am to 3.00 am, generally got to bed around 9.30 pm, especially if TV is rubbish, but really makes no difference what time I go to bed, always the same time waking up.
Iv'e always been an early riser anyway but now i wake with a slight headache & sometimes a sore neck, Tried different pillows but still the same, I might get up for an hour then go back to bed but by the time i get to sleep it's almost getting light at this time of the year anyway, so time to get up again !
Many many years ago I was a Milkman in the UK, up at 2 am & at work by 3.00 am, surely my body clock should have past that stage now as it was 40 odd years ago ?
Any suggestions
Dave

G'Day Dave.
Have the same problem at 2am . Heard one theory that before modern times , people used to get up in the night , maybe to put a log on the fire , I think it is a very common problem. As for your pillow , I had the same problem , a Chioropractor put me onto Kapok pillows , that are made from the Kapok plant from Northern Australia and probably elsewhere .
you can order online at www.Kapok.com.au , tried every other type , only get neck problems and head aches , Kapok really solved the problem. Regards Brian.

From what I have read sleep apnea can cause those problems, sleep studies are bulk billed or at least the two I have had were, so take the study and find out.

Hi Dave,
Just as a matter of interest I could have written just about word for word the same and how it applies to myself, probably over past couple of years.
Very frustrating especially when one needs to go to work next day. End up tired all day.
Love to know any results.
Cheers AL

Who mentioned that "W" word, suddenly feel faint now, No seriously, it's a problem & I thought I was the only one, seems to be an age thing, I guess stress can be another cause, but I really don't think I'm stressed about anything, although my wife had to have some "C" cut out a couple of weeks ago, could that be underlying stress with out knowing ?

Occasionally I can't sleep for hours but I don't get stressed about it, simply just relax as best as I can & I'm not too bad in the morning.
Other thoughts. Eating too much in the evening. Not cool enough in bedroom & in bed. Go for a walk in the evening before bed. Too much clutter where you sleep (recent study people sleep better in empty rooms). Electronics around the bed & in bedroom. Put mobile on aeroplane mode.

Also alcohol is a killer for sleep , years ago I used to try to keep to just a couple , any more and I had trouble . Then one day I was driving a low loader with a D7 on the back , the front right hand steer tyre blew up like a roadside bomb , wrapped around the axil , I could not move the steering , screeched over the wrong side of the road , I wrenched on the trailer brakes and the lever broke off , flew down the other side into the dirt , hit a table drain , flew into the air , come down with a big bang into the other side of the table drain . Luckily I had just bought some new big chains to tie down the D7 . It didn't move . After that the rule with just a couple went out the window , didn't get any sleep , so now the rule is No Alcohol . And no trucks any more I handed my Road Train licence in .

Just to report on my little trial of Magnesium tablets : as suggested by Au s-Kiwi . Been taking one High Strength every morning for about 3 weeks , also trying to stay up until at least 9.30pm . Seems to be working a treat , but not sure if stopping eating bread and rice had anything to do with it also . Thanks for that advice Aus-Kiwi.
Regards Brian.

I had sleep problems some years ago, after a bit of accident trauma, (I assume stress related)
A younger brother put me onto hot milk and honey, just before going to bed, seemed to work for me, so may be worth trying

Gooday,
Used to have that problem when in Business, used to put the radio on sleep mode, if I had not dropped off would press the button again. After some time I would just turn it on and let it go, My Manger (Wife), became used to it and we have had a radio on beside the bed all night now for about 30 years+, always take a portable with us if we are staying at Motels as many of them do not have a radio any more.
You start to listen to something and then you drift off to sleep and are annoyed in the morning that you missed the full story. Always on ABC, they have some of the most fabulous programmes from 10-00 Pm to 5-00 Am, some nights not as good as when we had Tony Delroy on the first shift, but it still works for us.
Cheers,

G'Day again Tony and Bev . Honey makes my heart race same as sugar , (no diabetes) just the way it is . Tried the quacks over 50 yrs. Narda!
Hello BlissO . I use the radio also but not the ABC , I save that for TV , except on some Sunday Mornings with Maca. I listen to the Hiss on no channel , for white noise . They say it is background noise from the stars . I'll let you know if a communication comes through , but hopefully I'll miss it in a deep sleep !
Brian.
G'Day Mikaela.
That would be nice , might have to visit Canberra for that cure . But fair dinkum , would be good .

Big problem is possibly/probably that you can fail a drug test, or driving test as it stays in your system for an extended period. Even if the levels are below any issues
