Hi Guys, We are new as well. We have not even started yet but we are super keen to get under way. My question, if anyone can help is this. Is there any difference between a Toyota 100 Series Turbo Diesel and a Troopie Turbo Diesel? As there is only the two of us, we like the extra space in the Troopie but I'm not sure if the gearing and power etc are the same. We intend to tow a 20ft van mainly on tared roads. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards Col and Tal

Troopie has less Tare than 100 series - power (Grunt) depends on drive train and motor choice. Personal preference (if can't get a Patrol 4.2) I would go for Troopie.

What are your plans shaping up to be ? A Trooper is easier to gut, convert the inside and live in than a 100 series.

Welcome to the gang NIEUPORT, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Gee, I'm an old trooper, well Indian Chief anyway but have travel getting rid of my gut. Mmm, I don't think you mean that gut though dabbler.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

I have 2009 78vdj Troopy, it tows my 20 van so well sometimes I look back to make sure its still there. I travel alone, so dont need more than two seats. The GXL, has 2 buckets. Workmate has allotment for two passengers on the left. Which car to tow with, opening a can o worms. Happy to give more info. Cheers.

The Troopy has serious off road capability, the 100 series has moderate to good off road capability.
Cheers,
Peter
