At my age, I have to have a mobile electric Kart to play and enjoy my golf. Annual Membership rates as follow for Riverlakes Golf Club in Cornubia 4130 Logan City Qld.
7 day..... $1099
7 Day Veteran $988
5 Day Veteran $848 *
* I am in the Veteran class and I also pay $600 a year for the right to have the use of a Kart as many times as I like each day of the midweek. My membership is therefore $1448. I generally play twice a week so Kart cost is $6 per round. Good deal.+ Comp Fees $12.
Otherwise the kart cost is $30 per hire.
This allows me to have a great network of mates as we have about 100 Veterans men & ladies golfers teeing up every Tuesday.
Better deal than owning your own.
Our Son is the Golf Professional at Mooroopna twin town to Shepparton in Vic.
If in the area drop in for a game and say Hello to Darren.

Hi Jay&Dee up until 2017 I was a veteran member of the Shortland Waters GC here in Newcastle I also played in the vets competition every week as well as socially with mates on Fridays. If I remember correctly it cost me $630 a year for a 6 day membership, green fees were $6 and to hire a cart $50 ($25 each). Therefore the cost for myself and another member to play 18 holes with a cart worked out to be $31. As a non member I played at Shortland this morning which cost me $42 with a cart so unless you intend on playing lots of times at the same place or you want to play comp I dont see the value in paying for a membership. I also like to play at a lot of different courses around the area and I never found one that would give me a discount for being a member somewhere else.
Cheers BB

As this has nothing to do with caravanning maybe this post would be better placed in the i digress section.

Vince,
You could be right, but the forum is also for view ideas and information for us to share.
No doubt there are a lot of us in the Grey Nomad community who are golfers, and perhaps like to share ideas and thoughts
My view is that if it was not for us retirees who enjoy the game, then many golf clubs would be in worse trouble than they may already be experiencing.
By the way, very sorry about the double post.
Just my view

Rocket wherever our van goes my clubs go so for me this subject probably has some relevance to caravanning. Although I agree it probably would have been better in the I Digress section why have you decided to single this one out as 30% of the topics posted just in the last 2 weeks would have been better posted elsewhere. What I have noticed is that more and more people who used to contribute reguarly to this forum no longer bother - I think I will join them on the sidelines.

For those passionate golfers traveling through WA and passing through Geraldton, try the Spalding Park GC. Both Geraldton and the GC are well worth visit.
