Make a sandwich, layering cheese ham and another layer of cheese.
Spray top and bottom slices of bread with Olive Oil Spray.
Place in hot pan or on BBQ plate.
Turn once then done.
Better than making all other toast methods when camping and no burnt offerings. Sometimes I make plain toast by spraying the bread on both sides with Olive Oil Spray and pan frying - so simple and so delicious.

I did not know that they were called fried toasties, but I do now
So thanks for that Possum
The better half make a similar meal
She places baking paper in the fry pan, (then cuts off the overhang with scissors)
She spreads butter over the two outside slices of bread, places the cheese/ham/whatever, as the filling, then toasts each buttered side in the fry pan

My mum made toasted s/w's this way in the Sunbeam Electric Frypan when they first came onto the market. With a family of six to feed, she could make four at a time lol. I have continued the tradition. My frypan is nearly 50yrs old and still going strong.

Sunbeam introduced the Electric Frypan in 1956 - manufactured in their Mascot NSW factory. It all started in 1880, when two, enterprising gentlemen formed the Chicago Flexible Shaft Company, and began producing and selling sheep-shearing equipment. To maintain revenue during the "off season", the company began producing small, innovative electrical appliances - which soon gained immense popularity.
