I have done both, and also sailed a boat to Indonesia.
I prefer camping and I am building a trailer to carry my stuff with a popup bed on top of the trailer.
To me camper trailers take too much time to set up. If i wanted all the home comforts of a caravan i would have stayed at home
I am a 70year old male. any comments?

Couldnt agree with you any less. Camping, as in setting up a tent is great for younger people always on the go. These days I prefer a motorhome or perhaps a caravan. Same comfortable bed every night which is ready to go in <5 minutes in a motorhome. I like the security as well as the convenience of being able to cook, wash, shower etc as required. These is absolutely no way Id compare a motorhome or caravan to staying at home (in a house). I have my home on wheels wherever I go which is something bricks and mortar cant compete with. Being snuggled up in bed watching a storm over the ocean is priceless, waking up to snow on the ground all around while still being warm is also priceless as is the morning coffee being consumed in a warm motorhome whilst still in bed is perfect. Camping and tents have their place as I did that when travelling the Gibb last year. The motorhome just doesnt go everywhere that my KTM will but I was pleased to return to Kunnanurra where my comfortable motorhome had stayed while I rode away. Travel safe and stay happy. Peta

There is nothing wrong with your preferred method of travelling, beaul
As we are all different, my preferred method of travelling is the motorhome in my Avatar
