Looking at travelling to Mitchell falls.. Would like to hear from travellers. Is it best to leave the Camper trailer at the King Edward River campsite and travel to the Mitchell falls or better to take it all the way to the Falls campsite.. How is the road cause I estimate campsite to campsite abt 3 hrs one way. Any thought appreciated. Thanks. Phillip

I don't think the Mitchell Falls are flowing very much, if at all, this season.
The track from King Edward River to Mitchell Falls campground is usually a shocker - rough, rocky in places, few signs or warnings of sharp corners or other hazards.
Is a bit of a Catch 22. Is very hard on any vehicle, let alone trailers etc. Recovery costs are huge. But those people who try to do it as a day trip from King Edward River are tempted to drive too fast for conditions and damage vehicle, have accidents etc.
Best solution is to take a tent, or swags, drive in slowly and carefully, enjoy the area over two or more days (there is also Surveyors Pool which is worth a visit). But if you don't have a tent.....

We were going to go but destroyed a tyre on Gibb River Road coming in from the east. We only had 1 more spare. So didn't go. The same day we saw 3 other vehicles replacing tyres on GRR. At the time I we didn't have TPMS. Later we found it turned out to be a screw in the tyre. We were also checking tyres every time we stopped on the rough roads.
After getting TPMS in Broome we were able to repair 3 more punctures on the run so it paid for itself.

Phill,
Take a tour - it's cheaper!
We flew over the Bungles in a chopper & then SWMBO suggested she'd like to see the Cathedral Cave (drive in) - NEVER AGAIN!!! What with the rough road & then meeting an AAPT bus travelling at an impossible speed in a narrow creek crossing!

Was thinking along those lines.. Got onto Drysdale Station yesterday and they have a free storage of the vans O/N ( Owners risk) so that is another option. So as not to lug the trailer across the grader challenged road. Been up against tour operator truck before and not a nice experience ( Bloomfield Track). Most rude on the day. Phill
