So I will be ready to leave in bang on 2 months from now. I will not have a home to come back to, I will be traveling forever, or until something better comes along.
My issue is as follows: My credit card expires in November 2019 My key card expires in April 2020 My medicare card expires in September 2020.
I will use a friends address to have a residential address but also have a P.O Box for the mail.
What I understand is that the bank will only send out the new cards, and this is also true of medicare.
So short of ringing up and telling them that my purse was stolen is there a better way to get the cards without having to keep going back to my P.O. Box every 5 minutes.
Its always the little things

Can you get your mail sent to friends address you could phone them periodically and get them to forward mail to a caravan park you will be staying at .maybe leave them with prepaid mail satchels or some cash to cover postage .

I use a Daughters address as my postal address and she takes a pic of mail then texts it to me. I then tell her what to do. Usually send it in a pre-paid Express Post envelope I have left a bundle of for her. I get it sent to a post office of my choice. She then sends me the tracking number by text so I can track it. I have a Assie Post a/c and set that to email me when mail arrives at the PO. When envelpoes get low I order more through Aussie Post app and get sent to her.
Has worked well for me extremely well for the last 5 years being full time GN.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

You can ask for cards from a bank to be sent to a branch so you can collect it there. Great is you are at the other end of the country. Ask them how long it takes & how long they will keep it in the branch.
I asked for cards early as I was going to Europe for four months & they would have expired. Same with driver's licence.

Explain and ask for early replacement. We did that in 2016 for cards expiring in 2017.

The Commonwealth bank doesn't know how to send cards to a branch, tried that in Qld after waiting two weeks found out the cards were waiting for me at home ,even though arrangements were made to go to a branch. Then I was asked to do a customer survey, did that gladly, satisfaction ....ZERO

Our replacement credit and debit cards were requested at a CBA and directed to that branch for collection. Subsequent replacements have been sent to out home address in the last month but we didn't intervene beforehand unlike the 2016 renewal. Of the five cards the family uses, all but one pre-date or activity at the branch. I can supposedly request new cards be sent to any CBA branch or new address from their app if I authorise it the correct way, but haven't needed to test it. NAB was the same for many years and would regularly send my cards to a branch near my workplace but I don't hold NAB cards any more. Medicare came to our nominated postal address.

Thank you for all your reply's. If I can get everything done in time I will be leaving on my trip in approx just under 2 months.
I am with the commonwealth so I will go in there this coming week and request new cards.
Hopefully they will be able to arrange to get me new ones before I go, 2 months should be enough.
I will also go to medicare to try to get a new card as well.
Thanks again I really appreciate it.

Mail is stolen from mailboxes & institutions recommend not to have cards, statements etc sent by mail.
I have an added issue where mail often goes to a Street & not a Crescent with the same name. It may turn up a month later!

When traveling interstate it might pay you to inform your bank of your intentions.
We're with the CBA & have had our account frozen twice while in a different state to our home state. You can't take money out at an ATM using your card.
Its a precaution that the bank does in case your card has been stolen.
They send you a text message asking you to confirm that you are where you are.

Other half had her CBA account frozen, it was frozen in WA as we are in NSW, as she has no mobile she didn't know what was going on.
Next day or so went into a branch & withdrew cash. The teller didn't say anything & didn't know why the card didn't work. Next time the ATM didn't work again. Back to the teller next time again.
We gave the CBA an earful as the teller should have had the same stop on the account as the ATM. Just as well we can rustle up cash between us!
It seems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing!
