hello everyone. Can anyone recommend a solar shop north of brisbane. We are heading that way. We were free camping last night . the battery was saying 11 so we put the genie on to charge it up but it did not charge but in the morning it was trickle charging from the sun and now we are in a showground on electricity it is charging fine. Thought we need to get it checked out. Battery is 3 years old.

Hi The Rocket,
I had a similar problem at Wiluna a few years ago. (Up there gold detecting) Drove all the way back to Kalgoorlie (600klms) to an auto electrician. After speaking to him and explaining my problem he said, I bet you have a COILTEC Smart charger. "Yep." They are to smart for themselves If your battery voltage drops below 11.4 Volts You will not be able to recharge off a genie, you will have to recharge it on mains 240 volt. Plug it into 240 overnight your problem will be solved. He was right, I will never forget that lesson. Hope it works for you. Cost nothing.
Regards
John

What type of charger are you using off the geni ?
The 12v from Generator generally isnt enough to charge batteries . We bought 40 amp to bring batteries up in no time . (12.5v) 7 step smart charger designed for 400 Ah storage batteries . Our normal ( starter ) charger just wasnt up to spec . Talk to auto elect next visit .
