KNIGHT provided supported statistics of facts...
The discussion got shut down...
Normal way of debating in this country.

I can see the opposing views, but don't see political discussion for which it was shut down. Some of the best discussion/debate I have had have been with my father (who I have the greatest respect).

I think there is some confusion as to what being green means in the past being green meant you were more of a naturalist now it refers to a more socialist out look

I think it happens when those who do not have a useful point to offer, turn up and try to win the argument, they want, by throwing out insults. At that point, discussion ends and the politics start.
Webmaster's site, Webmaster's definition of political is for her to decide.

Knight clearly made political comment and if you cannot see that then either visit specsavers or accept the umpires decision. Just remembered there is a third alternative you could go to Wiki Camps where there are no rules upheld.

ISTM that almost every topic can be politicised. Major issues invariably involve partisan views, so one side of the debate is often owned by leftists and the other by conservatives.
I would hope that such debates would not inevitably be "closed', otherwise we may as well just lobotomise ourselves and confine our discussions to relatively trite issues.

No argument from me regarding the decision to close discussion, while I enjoy an exchange of opposite points of view I prefer not to be involved in cherry picking replies and no attempt to provide alternative facts.
All the best.

Very true Dogbox although the dangerous ones are the Dark Greens rather than the light greens.
By the way, the above is said in jest, a light hearted and rather meaningless comment, not to be judged as political or racial.

Hi All, As I mentioned in the closed thread, we have decided to not allow political discussions on the forum. The fracking thread contained references and comments about political parties, as well political interpretations of policies and information. Unfortunately, experience has taught me that these types of discussions almost always end badly so I closed the thread. We created the forum primarily to be a positive place to ask for and share advice, stories and experiences about the grey nomad lifestyle and travelling around Australia. If anyone has any issues with closed threads or our policy regarding politics, please send me a PM and I’d be happy to clarify.
