There are strict roles in every State regarding fruit, vegetables, honey, plants even packaging crates and boxes - each State enforces the rules severely and has a website that advises their individual border controls. Differing websites for every State.

Here is a link to one such website
Just follow the links, (on that website), and it will give a detailed description of what is not allowed
The link above is great. Although, be aware that quarantines apply to zones not states (although some zonal borders are effectively state borders). There are also times when temporary zones, usually with prominent and frequent signage, might be created to control outbreaks.

Most veg can be taken across if they are cooked, spuds, carrots, onions etc and mushrooms will store for a few days in the fridge once cooked. No fruit though.
Border security can be good if you are honest, occasionally they go over the top, WA border can be difficult, mainly one from the Gestapo gives you sheets.
Try to run low before you cross, all part of the experience.

G'day Bob,
You've met Little Hitler too?
We surprised him by taking honey across - legally! We bought a bottle of WA honey earlier on but hadn't opened it.
Anyone with a camper should be prepared to erect it on the spot as they check everything & don't take "no" for an answer.
Also if you have any of those nice tomato boxes to store things in it - be prepared to get something else as it will go.
And don't do what I did twice - give up the fruit, it's far easier than spending all night on the loo with "the trots"!

Make sure you buy good quality vegetables to hand over at border crossings into Sth Aust and WA. The inspectors only like qlty food.
Believe me it is frustrating when you have just stocked yr fridge with vegies to hand them over .... grrrrrr

Surely you would only get caught once, if you repeat you must be a pretty slow learner.
