Our awning was rapidly approaching its use by date and had a quote in Geelong of about $1500. Didn't like that much and decided to wait a bit longer. Now we are in northern NSW near Lismore, say a canvas vinyl sign so I popped in lucky I did. Now we have a quality awning of three layers. All made to measure and fitted for $575. Very happy with that. Told the guy about worn faulty tracks that I struggle with sometimes and he gave me 2 sections (new) for free. So anyone in need check out Chris Allen Canvas and Vinyl in Lismore.... And no, no relation, just a quality place and owner.

I can almost guess the name of the place in Geelong that quoted $1,500 for a new awning. No doubt it also was booked out for nearly a month before they could do the job as well!
I was quoted $910 for an awning, plus fitting. I later bought one on eBay for just under $500 and fitted it myself with a couple of family members. Quite easy to do, just needs a bit of ladder work.

PS: My wife is a Geelong girl so we spend some time down there through the year.

These awnings have terrible sun protection . They delaminate in about 5 years . I painted the top 200mm to help keep sun off .,

Sorry, I just posted a full photo of an awning protector I am currently arranging to have fitted to my humble abode.
I am having a new awning fitted as a result of hail damage and sun wear and tear etc. Am hoping this new attachment will assist in greater longevity.
Cheers all. KB
Now there's an idea Thanks
