Scary stuff the conjecture around the world re bugs and birds disappearing.
We get reports from the World Heath Organisation that Glyphosphates are carcinogenic but it's still the most used weedkiller in History and still readily available in our hardware stores. The pesticides that are now known to be decimating the world Bee population is getting banned in countries around the World. Still available in lots of countries. Traces in most of the agricultural produce we eat today.
Latest research is pointing to Gluten intolerance as a direct effect of Glyphosphates.
Which of these reports do we believe. Safe /Not Safe.?
The other side of the coin the big producers of these chemicals Bayer and Monsanto are trying to merge to become one of the biggest companies in the world and they assure us that these chemicals are safe.
One thing I do remember from High School Chemistry. We were told that Organo Phosphates are the most Toxic substances ever produced. Sarin Nerve gas a direct descendant of these chemicals.
A constituent of Glyphosphate I'm led to believe.
Organo Phosphates also Known as "AGENT ORANGE"
Just been hunting on the internet and found another derivative of organo Phosphates.
Novichok that alleged Poison used in the UK to attack the Russian Journalist. Hazmat suits because it's so dangerous.

In Germany you can't buy Roundup anymore ,farmers can still get it .

Glyphosphate is not an organo phosphate. Anything with any trace of organo phosphate in has a much higher "S " (poison rating)
Regards Germany, they have banned Roundup but not any other Glypehosphate under different brand names. Glypehosphate has no connection to agent orange , just another scare campaign of other vested interests. and it worries me.
Any product with an S rating should be handled with due caution, this is why farmers require chemical certification to use. I see how some householders use chemicals yet they can go and buy them from any garden outlet no questions asked.
At least in Australia we have one of the highest controls of chemicals, except what comes in on imported fruit and vegetables. Beats me why no one cares just because it may be be cheaper or give our supermarkets a larger profit margin.

Good Post, I for one have not felt comfy buying fruit or veg in supermarkets for many years because of the poison the market gardners use. I have an area where I plant just the veg I like and companion plant with other things the insects don't like, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I don't mind though atleast I know it has had no poison sprayed on it. If my silverbeet or cabbages etc., have little tell tale signs of a hungry insect lol, then thats because it knows theres nothing harmful on it. I pick it and give it a good wash and know that I'm eating something with no poison on it. Regards Kisha.

Here In Australia Farmers use roundup to hasten the ripening of wheat crops. But the breweries wont accept malting barley if its been sprayed with Roundup, that should tell you something.

It seems that Roundup is used (or has been used) in many northern hemisphere, cold climate, countries as a pre-harvest spray to 'evenly dry the crop ready for harvest' - it kills the crop so they have to harvest within two weeks of spraying.
Ivan I know what is sprayed on the crops here as I live out of town & surrounded with crops. The farmer is my neighbour & he tells me what he is spraying. Also the local silo Vitera had a notice in the local paper a year ago warning if Malting barley was sprayed with Roundup it would not be accepted.

I remember DDT, I can still remember the smell as we regularly saturated our kapok mattresses with it to control the fleas.
It was supposedly deadly for insects and safe for humans.
But it started moving up the food chain.
Read the book "Silent Spring" by Rachel Carson.
I do not think that the chemical producers care about anything other than the next quarter's profits.

My view on climate change is it is all a big con.
I have been around for 80 years and yes I have seen climate change:-
* Like the four seasons a year.
* Like when we leave the cold in the south and head north for warmer climate... That is Climate change.
* Like floods, droughts and other mother natures events.
And * I am sure that thereare scientists who are for and against the truth on this subject.
If a referendum was held the would most like be the old 80 x 20 rule but the 80 would represent against the climate change issues.
I remain of the view that it is all a Big Con.

Oh yes there is climate change. Brought about by money hungry governments and big business.
Why do we have a water shortage? We grow huge export crops along the rivers in places that were never meant for crops, polluting them and using all the water. Look at the Hay plains for instance.
Did you know, that 70% of all crops grown in Australia are exported. I read that on one of the political party's website as a boast on how this was helping Australia, pay for education health etc.
What will happen when the great artesian Basin along with the rivers runs dry from drawing more than can be replaced? Drought and Climate change will be blamed.
Its interesting that long time generational farmers mainly don't support climate change. Just the cycle of the seasons they say. Only, the seasonal rain they relied upon isn't enough to replentish and keep them going anymore.
How does this affect RVérs? 20yrs ago when I first started travelling getting water was not an issue. There were taps available in most parks. I had never heard of blue/green algee. How often have you come across notices saying that the river water is not safe to swim in? There was(is?) one at the Balranald CP. Where all the big crops are grown Why? Now, in towns where even their bore water has run out, I will not ask if I can have 100ltrs for my tanks.
Oh yes, if they keep going the way they are, climate change will be our downfall according to govts anyway.
