Melbourne - Adelaide......What to see along the way

Greetings All
Heading to Adelaide on the weekend with some friends, anybody got any good ideas as to what to stop and look at along the way, no hurry to get there or get back but would like the trip a little interesting

The Bend Motorsport Park just east of Tailem Bend is worth a look. New Caravan park there is good too

Mt Eccles & lava tube, walk around the crater. Tower Hill. Naracoorte Caves (GPS give you the wrong entrance). Mount Gambier Blue Lake, Nov to Dec is the best time for the blue colour, but it is interesting nevertheless. There is a good camping ground (show ground) in Auburn SA, but other than that not a lot. There is a well know Australian author who lived in Eudunda, southern end of Worlds End Highway. Coorong & the coast. Deep Creek NP grass trees, then up the coast to Adelaide. last photo is a lava quarry at Mt Napier, bit hard to get to if towing, & driving out the southern end you will scratch the car if not careful, forget about towing, Australia's youngest volcano 8000 years which flowed to the sea, Byaduk Caves & the lava blisters - tumuli, further south Aboriginal fish traps, it was a really rich area. If in My Gambier go to the Centre on the southern corner of Bay Rd & Commercial St & watch the free video, I think 11am & 2pm, really worthwhile. Beachport a WW2 sea mine, Robe reasonably interesting.
Melbourne to Portland via the great ocean rd, Nelson on along the limestone coast to Adelaide, just got back and see so much that i could have stayed for months.

thanks for that, we are going to be heading up the western highway, done the great ocean road route many times and planning to do that again later in the year again
this time its the western highway and thinking about Halls Gap and the Grampians

I think it was Taylor's Track we drove through the Grampians (4wd needed some sections of soft sand so let tyres down). Also looked at all the Aboriginal sites. There is another site east of the Grampians, a small round cave, near the Grim Reaper photo, worth walking up the top of the hill for the rock formations. Black Range is worth doing, a bit of a drive in a big loop, interesting rock formations (& dead tree photo). Some big ants around the Grampians (2 photos as they are very angry ants!). Also walk up the Grampions highest mountain, it's all road but it is a long way, take water with you & a bite to eat & hat, good views.
