Lots of 12 volt LED Christmas lights around Jacki, similar to this, some seem to have cigarette lighter type connection.
The likes of BCF, Autobarn, Supercheap, etc sell sets of portable LED lights that can be used on vehicles, in camps - but they aren't cheap (around $90-100) but they offer white/yellow LEDs. The latter keeps the insects at bay.

You can buy multicoloured LED light strips on Ebay these days for silly prices - about ten bucks at the moment and getting cheaper all the time. I got a 5 metre waterproof strip with mains adapter and remote control and fixed it under the awning and plug it into an external 12V cigarette socket if we're free camping or use the supplied 240V-12V adapter if we're in a caravan park. The remote allows you to choose all three colours on at the same time, any one colour, various flashing patterns, and to dim them.
