Hi all, my wife's bowel cancer decided to return after a 2 year absence. Am wondering if anyone else has experience with taking Capecitabine tablets and getting a shot of Bevacizumab while still travelling

I don't know any travellers doing Chemo, but as I understand it; The lethargy caused by medications make travel nauseating. It would also depend on the type/need for medical treatments whilst on the road.

That's why i'm asking, Doctors see no reason not to travel, we are staying put for a couple of months to what reactions she has. Been taking the pills for a couple of days and so far so good

Whether you travel or stay put may I send my best wishes to you both through this trying time. Just remember Australia will stay right where it is if you decide to wait until she beats this off again which I'm sure she will.

Just a quick update, so we have been able to access my wifes medical needs for a couple of months in larger NSW & QLD locations. We are now heading for Broken Hill having made prior arrangements with the oncology dept of the local hospital, then its off to Keith in SA where the nearest oncology unit is Mt Gambier. So armed with enough contact information and referrals we are about to see how far our travels can take us. Will let you know how our experience goes

Hi Grant,
We started our journey last June - when my husband had his osaphagas cancer tumore removed. I was still working full time at that stage.
We had purchased an IVECO LR Truck and a 5th Wheeler, several small trips kept us sane. / Small short trips and to and from Hospital for scans.
We did long weekends away here in WA. All scan came back clear until the 11th Month mark, this is when the cancer has mastisication [spelling] re appeared in other place in his body, plus moved into his bones, depest of sighs as this made so unhappy in accute pain.
Long story short. Trying to get on the road to travel.
House is now sold. SETTLEMENT - 21/10/2019 - Only days away. EEEKKK [packing up 23 yrs that has it's own challanges]
Sold the old Rig and have bought new one that I can drive as Colin [Husband gets weaker] Yes we know, there will be an end of life, 1 days at a time.
I wouldn't mind your insite on oncologists and how you got the list and how you, booked forward!?
He's just had a bone scan last friday 26/09 - Dr's review 15/10. We are to have more radiation. We will be moving to a local Caravan Park - Maybe Fremantle.
We have a dog, thank god, we know a doggy sitter if we have to be at the hospital all day or anything like that.
CHALLENGES.. Never Ending.
I did write a introduction in the INTRODUCE YOURSLEF - Some of the Guys / Gals advised this is the better place to write..

Hi guys
we contacted the cancer council in the state we wanted to be in explained what treatment as needed and they gave us a list of hospitals and a contact name. What we found was not all hospitals with oncology units do every type of treatment and there is not an oncologist there full time. When we were in Broken Hill NSW we had a teleconference with an oncologist in Adelaide SA and the oncology nurse in Broken Hill administered the treatment.
It can be challenging organising things I advance but we are getting it done. The best thing we do is keep copies of all tests and scans and carry them with us so each new oncologist we see has a good idea of treatment and progress, having a good GP helps as he can always write a referral for us and email it to us/oncologist.
