Hi we have been on the road for nearly two years now and recently had our van in for repairs for a week through a reputable insurance caravan dealer. They did a good job but I can not find a it devise that we leave in our van behind our bed just wondering if any of you travellers have had stuff stolen while your van is in being fixed

Over 8 years of fulltime travel, only once did I find an item missing that I was sure it was there before others had access .. It was never found. Something to remember, is that even the most popular servicing centres "may" have someone in their employ that doesn't comply to the company's best interests ..
In other cases, I've found items that I had secured in another location as a safety net .. but that was a failure of memory on my part. Best suggestion .. seek an alternative location next time if it were "friends" last time .. just my opinion.

give them a ring or better still an email enquiring if they may have found one after you left. don't accuse them of thieft it may have been moved.
they may have had previous things happen along the same line it may pinpoint a problem they have.

I have only had one place work on my van so far and have great trust confidence in their work and them looking after my TeePee for me. Maybe just luck, who knows.
Now, Biggles, what's this bit about "failure of memory" ? You say'n ya have lost the plot mate ?

Terrible feeling 'TY'' as you don't want to accuse just in case it is somewhere else.....I put my Brand new towing vehicle into a leading Holden Dealer for first service....had my favourite
fishing knife in the door console, it disappeared..my fault for sure.....however on the next Service with my own mechanic...he asked me why I had a two year old battery in a new
vehicle?.....the swine had changed battery's as well....its not something you immediately check after a service....however I do now......the Dealer most reluctantly agreed to replace the
battery stating...it could have been exchanged anytime after my service with them....and I should have checked......as for the knife...they have many personnel passing round their service
centre and I should remove everything.....Dealer was absolutely right, however I had purchased two new vehicles from them previously and never went back.....moral Customer is not
always right,... however Customer always remains the Customer.....

.. but speaking of TeePees .. maybe your agent is booked out now .. new 4-pole high-rise ones are the go ! .. but then .. you'd know that !!

Photograph everything. We had the same issue on our building, the builder tried to claim things had gone missing & charge us for it. I showed him the photographs at the start & a day before the job was finish & a stocktake list of all items on our building site. He almost exploded that he had been caught out with his scam!
Photograph everything first & when you pick up the van, it front of them cross reference everything off a list. If you are prepared it is not much of an effort.

You are lucky it wasn't the pol pol, who found it and charged you for your carrying of a deadly weapon, in the car door pocket. How many times do you fish from the drivers seat.
