With just a hint of anticipation. With just a hint of excitement. OK, with a LOT of excitement, here I stand on the precipice of my future
Finally. Finally. For me the wait is over.
After 4+ years in the planning the time has now come
To hit the road permanently and follow the sun
Tomorrow I head off in Rhonda, my little white bus
There won't be a fanfare there won't be a fuss
Tonight I am packed and raring to go
Tomorrow I head north, the pace will be slow
No need to rush or hurry in life anymore
Never again to walk through the office door
Yesterday I quit work and no I wasn't fired
I'd just had a gut full and today I'm retired
Time to see the world, or Australia at least
Seafood and steak on the barbie, oh what a feast!
Everyday a new adventure Somewhere new to explore
I might even have a hit of golf Just so I can yell out "fore"
Or maybe an end of bowls, a game I quite like
Or I could go for a walk or a ride on my bike
See as from tomorrow the choice will be mine
I can please myself be it rain hail or sunshine
I will visit the outback and tiny little towns
From the Kimberley to the Darling Downs
I will visit Darwin, Kakadu The Alice and the Rock
Travel the highways and byways maybe the Canning Route Stock
I'll go on road and off road and wherever I please
I'll take little bush tracks and wherever I can squeeze
I want to see it all and do as much as I can
Experience the lot while I'm still a healthy man
For no one quite knows when our time on earth is done
So now is the time to start having me some fun
I have friends around the country that I want to see
I really do hope that they want to see me
Visit home towns like Warragul, Coffs Harbour and Lismore
Places that hold memories and new ones to explore
I will miss my family and friends in the west
But I will be back some day if only for a rest
Thanks for the memories and thanks that you care
Please keep me in your thoughts and your prayer

Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments. Been in Perth past couple of weeks catching up with family and friends and getting lots of cuddles with my 7 week old grandson. Despite the pull of family ties, I am really looking forward to a couple of days time when I head out proper and start the slow journey clockwise.
Will study up on "how to" and get my posts without big gaps and sideways photos.
This me 2 weeks ago.
