We met the Prince and his son last year and asked ourselves the question, Where do the few residents of Hutt River go for medical treatment?
It is a great spot to visit and when people get the full story they can make up their own minds about whether he was right or wrong.

Our taxes we pay in our working lives, large or small, all contribute to Australian Health Services, Hospitals etc etc ...did he contribute?....Hoo Roo

I think you'll find he paid taxes - everything from fuel down to toilet paper came from outside where GST must be paid unless you have an exemption. I reckon he cost the Australian taxpayer very little whilst providing a great tourist destination/attraction. He was someone who was true to his word.

His son Graeme Casaly lived in my street 20 years ago, who is now the Prince, nice family, they paid their dues beforehand.
When I worked for Telstra, some bloke in Nannup dug up the cable and fired shots over the workers heads who came to repair it, they complained to the Police and they said he had a piece of paper from the Queen, and he had succeeded from Australia.The police couldn't go on his property without permission, and Telstra who had land access anywhere according to the Commonwealth, had to move the cable off his property, 2.5 k extra to go around his block.
True story !!! He was a nutter who thought aliens were coming and the world was going to end on 11/11/2011.
Prince Leonard was a Saint compared to some weirdos, stuck it up the Establishment at times.

He/Hutt River Province declared 'war' on Australia briefly in 1977 as he owed Taxes....WA Court determined in 2017 he and his son owed M$3 plus interest and Court Fees to ATO for unpaid taxes...They stated they did not recognize the "debt".......ATO pursue you to the grave....RIP.....Hoo Roo

I was sad to learn of the passing of Prince Len of Hutt. He stood for what he believed in and I admired his courage.
I remember at around the same time as Prince Len came to notice, there was King Ron in NSW. King Ron and his wife, Queen someone, had a property out near Penrith, I think it was Mulgoa way. He used to come in to the court house at Penrith where I was a law clerk. He would enter his defences to all litigation filed by the State and Commonwealth Governments, especially the ATO. I remember he was very impressed with the assistance one of my work colleagues gave him, so much that he knighted him.
We were all very impressed with this and thought it was hilarious. This former colleague still gets called Sir ..... to this day by those of us that worked there at the time.
It is with sadness we note the passing of 'Prince Leonard" of Hutt River Province.
We had the privilege of meeting him and his Sons back in 2014 - an extremely interesting man.
