Along the same road as the zoo, about 15kms is a place called Toonghi Hall. (not sure of the spelling) Flushing toilets and water. Donation box located outside men's toilet. Nice flat area, especially if you park on the disused cricket pitch. Locals use the tennis courts and are very friendly. We have left our van there and gone to the zoo or into town on two or three occasions. Admission to the zoo is for two days, which we found very handy being able to go back and see the bits that we missed the first time. Brenda.

I was out that way before xmas and stayed at the Eumungerie Recreation Reserve (read sport field) .
Cold shower and loos. 5 bucks unpowered 10 powered.
Tis about 30kms out of Dubbo.
Left the van there and headed to the zoo no problems.
Paid the care taker 10 bucks for 2 night but had to move on after the 1 night. He tried to give my 5 bucks back.
Not to mention I ran out of gas on that night (don't ask) and he offered to give me his bottle as a swap for my empty one.
Nice people. good spot out of town but dont expect the Marriott
