Hi all To the ones who have had air lifters installed on their pop top, is it difficult to pull the roof down? I did a search on the topic and that problem was mentioned. I shall be travelling through Brisbane soon and would like to have something installed to make lifting my roof possible. The roof lifter is no longer travelling with me and I cannot lift it on my own. Who in Brisbane can anyone recommend to fit the above. Cheers

I am uncertain if Caravan Council of Australia may be able to help you - Call their Chief Engineer Colin Young www.caravancouncil.com.au/

Have you Googled "RV Airlifters " ? They used to be near Caboolture.
Going to get a Unit fitted to my Hi-ace, so I just googled them myself.

We had airlifters in a Ford Transit with a pop top. They were brilliant in raising the roof. When lowering them you can turn a valve that lets the air escape. If you were in a big hurry it would be a bit inconvenient but it didn't make it hard. I used to let the roof down and while it was settling all the way do other packing up stuff, then come back to finalise securing clips etc. If I still had a pop top I would definitely go for them. Turn compressor on and roof goes up.

Thank you for your replies. I was especially interested that you had airlifters previously. That is what I was hoping to hear. Thank you again.

We have a fairly new poptop now ....and I was a bit anxious about this because it has a rooftop A/C and a largish solar panel....but Jayco just said it was no prob and put stronger gas struts up there. I can open it by myself (with stuffed shoulders ) and it needs a bit more of a tug on the handle to start it closing again...but again no biggie. Maybe this would be something to look at ....?
Cheers Keith

I have RV Air Lifters fitted (at manufacture) on my 2013 Nova Terra Sprotz (approx 18ft) pop-top and find them great. There is a roof top air con and a solar panel on the roof and the roof comes down easily even when most of the air is out of the bags. Have been using the van for approx 3 months each year since purchase. I have mobility issues and would not be able to use the van without the air lifters.

Thanks Basset52. Keith I've had gas struts done but I have 2 solar panels and I am a 45kg, 4'11" hobbit, so definitely need extra assistance.

We have RV Airlifters on our 2018 Jayco 17.55-8 with Roof Top Aircon.
Easy to operate when raising Poptop and easy to pull down roof manually.
Great investment.
Fernvale outside Ipswich is where they are made now.
