Thanks Doug, the location speaks for itself. Truly an amazing tourist spot full of wonder & magic and a place that should be on everyone's bucket list!. If you never go there you're missing out on something very special and it'd be 'a cry'in shame too!'

We opted for the cheaper fly over courtesy of The Bush Pilots from Windham - even that was spectacular (four fly pasts at 1200', I recall).
The Buccaneers Archipelago was equally impressive on the way back.

Hi Warren,
there are a few options to choose from to visit the Horizontal Falls and as it would be a 'once in a lifetime' trip for me I chose to fly. Cause I have a 'need for speed' I chose to experience the fast flying boat landing between vertical cliffs and the jet propelled boat fast ride up the falls. Ya hooooo!!!....... Either way the experience is a breathtaking trip hey!!! Gwynnie

It's expensive, but hey, it's an adventure worth doing. If you can, do the overnight trip. I have done both and enjoyed the overnight from Derby more than the Morning flight from Broome.

I did it from Broome and was very disappointed. There were 5 or 6 planes overhead, and they were all circling / waiting but we ended up not getting down low enough to get a good look!
Ended up buying the photos of the falls back at the airport.

It must have been very disappointing for you Glen, that you were caught on your 'Falls tour' so high up and not able to get personal photos. I took the 'lunch provided' option and we experienced a heart stopping water landing right in front of the pontoon. Gwynnie

If you are going to the expense of flying there I advise taking a tour that lands and you go through the falls by boat. In my opinion it's a waste of money just flying over.

We did the overnight stay at Horizontal Falls flying in from Derby as part of our Gibb River Road trip in May 2017. The overnight stay on the pontoon was fantastic and although expensive in the scheme of things it was a bucket list/60th birthday treat - worth every cent and we would do it again in a heartbeat.
Apart from the flight and the fantastic jet boat rides through the gaps we got to hand feed the tawny nurse sharks. There's nowhere else in the world like it and we feel very privileged to have been there, done that! Highly recommended.

We did the overnight trip from Derby and agree with Yackety, but later in 2017. It was well worth the experience. The view of the Kimberley wilderness from the light plane was wonderful, stunning.
