"Love it". That was my wife and I in Esperance WA on our honeymoon, 1983.
Brings back some lovely memories.
Absolutely brilliant.
Spent many years working in Karratha. Is that the "Burrup"?
Regards.

Thanks Hetho, we married a year earlier, but didnt have anywhere near such an exotic honeymoon - we were poorly paid nurses in the UK - one night in a hotel was the best we could manage!
I suspect you are confusing Dampier, the town on the Burrup Peninsula near Karratha with the Dampier Peninsula north of Broome. You would be far from the first to do so! :). We are just under 200kms north of Broome, & about 25kms north of Beagle Bay where we are voluntary caretakers at a tiny coastal eco retreat/campground whilst it is closed for the Wet season. Spending a wet season (our first) in remote Kimberley wilderness was a bucket list thing. Have been on the Peninsula since early September. So far so good. :)

If you are caretaking near Beagle Bay you are near the Sacred Heart Church. My Paternal Grandmother was at the mission there and worked on the pearling luggers, as a girl cook, in the 1800's.
I have not been back there since they rebuilt the Steeple, but prior to it's collapse it was unbelievably magnificent, and I believe the restoration was very well done.

Hi Cuppa.
Sorry, yes. I have them mixed up.
However, my daughter lives in Broome and I visit 3 to 4 times each year.
I think we will be attending our daughters wedding on the Dampier Peninsular this year (2019).
Our daughter is talking 200 kms ish north Broome, on the beach at sunset; so we may be in your back yard !
Enjoy your journey Possibly see you soon.
Regards.
Hetho.

Personally I hate Sandy beaches. Sand gets everywhere.
Best wishes to all for the new year from us both.
