Coming up the Birdseye highway from Elliston SA, two large Stags ran across the road in front of us, gracefully leaping over the fence. They were as big as small steers complete with antlers. Red deer most likely.

Nearly hit deer near Corryong recently. The biggest surprise was it was deer. Used to kangaroos, not deer.
I like the ALDI ad with Santa crashing and the repair.

They are in plague proportions in some of that country.
A significant feral problem.

Saw a magnificent beast that looked like Bullwinkle (a Moose), standing right beside the Princes Highway just outside Cann River VIC.
BIG & a fabulously shining coat. Antlers were bl**dy HUGE! What a proud stance he had.
Definitely not related to Bambi. Big enough to pull Santa's sleigh all by himself.

Brother in law did some serious damage to his brand new car earlier in the year when he hit a deer on the road into Port Macquarie. Apparently there are plenty of warning signs for deer on the southern side of the city but where he ran into it was on the northern side, the road that runs along the river - he didn't see as it was early in the morning with a bit of a fog. I imagine it will be just another feral animal that will continue to grow in number if they are not controlled.
Cheers

Most of the bigger ones are Sambar breed. Put a couple of those roo scarer whistles on the front of your car - about $7.30 at Autobarn or Repco. Really do work. Big stag jumped out from right hand side of bush onto middle of road and when he heard the ones mounted on my car he turned and leapt back into the bush on right hand side. You need to be doing between 40 and 90 for them to work. Too slow - don't generate enough wind going through. Too fast - and you're on top of them before they can get out of the way.

I'm glad that the roo scarer whistles work for something , probably why I never hit any deer. Pity they don't work on roo's though, hit at least two when I had them on.
This pic was taken near Kingaroy, Qld, from my front door a few weeks ago.

Do you know how the Fairy got to be on top of the Christmas Tree?
Well it was a week before and the Fairy entered Santa's home with a Christmas Tree in its hands (dare not use gender) and asked Santa where he should put it.
