hi everyone iam 58 and just getting ready to become a grey nomad just wondering what would be the average cost of staying in a caravan park and where are good alternatives to stay to keep cost down
and what are same good cars too bye to tow with is there a really reliable one too choose from.. all the makes or any to steer clear of..

The Camps range of books and Wikicamps list all low cost caravan options, but pricing varies and is dependant on size of rig, length of stay, power or unpowered site, time of year, number of persons, proximity to Cities, local festivals - Prices range from $20 to $60 per night.
Do you want a tent, campervan, rooftop camper, camper trailer, caravan or motorhome.
Tug vehicles can vary, dependant on comfort level, towing capacities, fuel type 4WD or 2WD, number of seats, sedan, ute or SUV. new or second hand.
Strongly suggest you get some camping and travelling within Australia magazines and select a range of want's as opposed to need's only you know your health and budget parameters

Cost of powered sites in caravan parks would average around $30 per night - some may be lower, some higher. Some are basic & some are top of the line.
You can get discounts - for staying a week (stay 7 days, pay for 6), being a member of a group eg Kui Camps, Top Tourist, Big4 (the most expensive, generally as they cater for people who want everything), an automobile club, being a Senior.
Possum suggested looking at magazines - often you can borrow these from your library.
Visit caravan parks that have both van sites & a camping area & ask people staying there what they have & why. Mostly people will share their experiences & most have graduated from swag to tent to camper-trailer to a van of some type, etc. When we had our first camper-trailer, talking to neighbours on "What do you have", "How do you . ' was a regular occurrence between other owners.
You can start small & work up or spend your $million & buy the best straight out!! Look around at the second hand markets - some of us prefer that way ("all the bugs have been sorted out") or buy new ("you never know what someone else's troubles were).
My first foray was a small 2man French made tent & some necessities, a 12' boat towed by a Singer9 Sports car!
What you need to do is to write down what you want to see, where you want to go & then see what car/trailer/van meets those requirements.
AND DO A "SEARCH" OF THIS FORUM to wrap up your final decision!

, hi magpiesdotravel,just endorsing other posts to you.I have a cavalier off road camper trailer bought new 2003.When not in use jacked up undercover in shed out of the
elements.Also have niissan gu 3td turbo patrol 2003 bought from new ,dual batt systems serviced from new.I am all set up for travel.
I would recommend sitting down writing down what you want to see.
As people say cost to stay in caravan parks can be prohibitive,depends on your budget.Check out books,magazines on travelling
I use camping grounds now and again,like to go station stays see the real Australia.Do not need power sites solar panals/good deep cycle batts.
