Has anyone got a "Aussie Caravan Cover" made of marine grade 600D fabric? We would like to know if you are happy with it and how it compares to other brands like ADCO and Camec as our past covers have not been very durable for the price paid.

Camec only lasted 18 Months absolute rubbish rotted out at bottom, went mouldy I wouldn't recommend.

All caravan covers can be regarded as being temporary. There's not much difference between any of them from our experience and from what others have said on various other threads about the subject in the past.

I just use a silver tarp .. circa $110
Brocolli boxes on the roof (3 each, across front & rear + one on top of A/C) & tarp over.
Top the lot with the shade cloth mat.
Cheaper & lasts for about 4 years.
Not as pretty as the van covers & takes longer (I think) to fit & remove.
Should have built a carport 20 years ago. Too late in the piece now.

My experience with these is the same times two. They both let the rain water through after a year, and started to fall apart.
I now use the "Silver Grey" Tarps from Bunnings and found they last. Still using the first one I bought after 3 years and it looks like it just came out of the packet.

I have used shade cloth . Imo the sun does more damage . Breaths too .

You can get a polytarp from Bunnings with a warranty of 4years for around $275, 4years is a lot longer than you will gget out of the fitted caravan covers.
I wonder what people are trying to protect their vans from by using these covers. To me it is akin to putting a cover over your house when you are not at home.
Our MH has been outside 24/7 for 15 years (except when we go away without it for a week or more) and it shows no signs of deterioration from that.
They are designed to be outside.

Eco Tarps in Perth have very good products and cost heaps less than the big green shed.
they are online also.
I've been using a white and green one for 3 years now and it still looks good. Perth sun can be savage.

ps Peter ... Your handmade MH may be made to withstand the elements and not need a cover, but I'm not sure that that is the case with the factory produced 'pretty' ones that most of us buy from the plethora of Aussie caravan sellers.

Custom made from coverworld very expensive,so that makes it out for most here,there three layered and very heavy duty anything else is second rate garbage from what I have seen...

I do understand how folk are keen to "protect their investment". However, as you, Peter, I travel full-time and neither my vehicle or van have been under cover at any time in their 10 years of travelling life. They have been through every weather element in that time and spent much of those 10 years in outback NSW/QLD/SA and a bit of WA in every season.
Many other travellers comment on how my van doesn't 'look that old' when its age is discussed. Also, many don't believe the Landy is now 12 years old - they think it is a much newer model.
I don't wash the van or Landy very often either - once a year would be the average perhaps. Again, when I lived in a house, I never washed the outside - except for the windows.
I would be more concerned with condensation and a range of other conditions when having the van (or vehicle) covered full-time with a tarp etc.
