I am in the early what do we need stages of converting from a soft wall camper to a custom built, hard walled, camper (caravan).
Age is catching up with us, as much as we love the camper trailer.
One of the items under consideration is the air conditioner.Either a DometicHarrier 3.1Kw inverter or an equivalent houshold split system.
Has anybody have any comment or experience about the Harrier or the installation of a domestic unit in lue?

I have no idea if you can get away with a house AC, but have seen comments on some forums that people are happy with them. A lot lot cheaper & if they brake replace them & work better in high ambient temperatures. The efficiency of the 2.5kW units are seriously impressive.
For example the Daikin is 0.42kW for rated cooling at 2.5kW, & 0.62kW for 3.6kW heating. & they turbo a good percentage if you are desperate & obviously have the available energy.
If you are running off batteries this is 2.85 & 2.42 times more efficient than your stated AC at 1.2kw input cooling & 1.5kW input heating!
A no-brainer if it you can use it!
This "caravan" was traveling at 115 kph swerving & swaying all over the road to avoid hitting road signs & trees. It was trying hard to keep up with the police escort!

After much research I chose 2.5kw Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (NOT... Repeat NOT Mitsubishi Electric).Uses little power and I can run it 24/7 off my batteries.Unit weighs under 30kg and sits on drawbar, with cassette on insude wall.NO noise from inside OR even outside van, with only 58db.Cost $700 from Good Guys, and absolutely majic! Cheers
