He may also brag that he has been banned from at least two caravan forums.

Now BG as you are a one of our longest serving members that really surprises me. Macca 17 (until he was barred) was one of the most prolific posters on the forum he had done everything, been everywhere and was a self proclaimed expert on all things. I guess in the end he must have upset one person too many. In my opinion Macca did offer some really good advice and no doubt he had an opinion on everything but you really had to seperate the useful stuff from all the other rubbish that he wrote. Most of the time that photo which he was using as his avatar probably suited him

My litmus test with "boorish characters" has always been how long I would suffer them round my personal campfire...I remember one prospecting trip in WA when we invariably gather round
a large camp fire at night..one ""boorish-self interested character"" insisted on getting up and repeating Australian Poetry, much self written and unrhyming if that's a word!..., ad nauseum,
without request.....Prospectors aren't known for their
subtlety.the next night we had another camp fire site set up ready to go......after he had already settled himself at the first...we got up and lit the other camp fire and settled round
that.....he remained at the first no doubt repeating his poetry to himself?..however, he obviously got the message...no more poetry on that trip....and we got to discuss gold related
subjects that interested us all......toooo funnyyy..
Forums are like our own camp fire .....they can be informative, interesting, stimulating, humorous, caring,.....with little long term interest in stroking inflated egos....or bullish,
belligerent, hurtful, "know all", behavior.....people tend to move to alternative camp fires.....IMO........Hoo Roo.

From all the comments, I seem to recall the name but I did not know him or follow his posts, or recall the Avatar. Must be Old Timer's Disease setting in !!! The photo came to me in an email from a friend.

Sorry BG I wasnt trying to have a go at you for posting that photo I just made the comment that Macca who many people on here would remember quite well used to use it as his avatar. You were probably better off not following his posts anyhow or you would have ended up exchanging pleasantries with him like many of us did when he eventually pushed the right button. I got the feeling that he used to get some sort of satisfaction out of getting people to take the bait.....
Cheers

Macca 17 could fly a helicopter down a mine shaft, turn it upside down and land on the roof of a drive like a blue bummed fly.

Gday...
Macka17 was something of a unique character. He had considerable experience, in a wide variety of lifestyles over what seemed many centuries - one just had to ask him ... although he was quite prepared to provide all this without the slightest provocation from other posters.
However, his way of communicating was somewhat disappointing, especially as he considered his was the best, and often only, advice one should follow.
Woe betide anyone who challenged his opinion/advice.
Additionally, often his experience/s and advice were a little dated and had become overtaken by time and advancement in many fields.
Also, one needed to look past his very 'politically incorrect', often outdated, opinions on almost any subject, put forward very forcibly.
Macka17 was not one to be contradicted, or for one to expect to have an amicable exchange of ideas or opinions.
Just purchased this TV Tray for my dinner whilst watching TV !!!
