G'day kikijims,
I just read it on the web when I came in. Although this chap was on a motor cycle, it's a timely warning for anyone planning to travel the Kimberley, remote areas of the NT & Qld. The article said he was "experienced".
Temperatures in western Qld have been over 40 degrees for quite a few weeks.
Don't say it won't happen to "me, us" - it can. I suffered a dose of heat exhaustion in the early 70s when I visited Wittenoom (now a town not on the map) - that was in September, not summer!
Heat exposure is believed to have claimed the life of a second person in outback Australia in a week.
