Just wondered how many people use it on here. We do a lot, lots of competition in the market at present, between Uber, Ola and Didi, with Didi offering really incredible service at present. Taxify is an also ran now and seems to be losing ground.
How we use it is thus, generally speaking we will go out to a venue or meal by public transport and use one of the ride shares to get home. For us here in Coburg 8ks from the CBD it's generally less than 12 bucks to get home. It's been as low as less than 2 dollars before with an OLA special. There is now a new player on the scene a totally new approach. It basically lets the drivers bid for "your" ride. Explained here "Oiii bid" [video=https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCswU4L-VY8YFpwKKoqHlOMg]
There are also the hire car share services as well. I've not partaken in one of these yet, however lots of people around here do. Seems inevitable as they are building lots of apartments now with no car parking in the Moreland and Darebin Municipalities here in Melbourne.

Not until autonomous comes in I'd say. So at least 20 years away.... more like 30. So country folk take yet another financial hit over their City counterparts.

They are in Geelong and Ballarat as well, but only Uber thus far. Didi Chuxing will probably end up a bigger company than Uber and are far cheaper in Melbourne. Didi already carry more people than Uber world wide.
